Problems we solve

01Customer-journey speed engineering

What you may be seeing

  • Our website is slow, especially on customers' phones.
  • Customers tap a button and nothing seems to happen.
  • Product pages take too long to show the main content.
  • Adding items to the cart or moving through checkout feels sluggish.
  • Speed scores improved, but real customers still complain.
What we build or change

We find where real customers wait, then repair the page, application or server causing the delay. You see how the change affects speed and completed tasks.

Implementation & verification

We connect real-user page timings to browser traces and backend request timings to locate the delays in the actual buying journey. We change frontend code to reduce blocking scripts, split expensive work, prioritize the main image and remove unnecessary requests. Where the delay is on the server, we repair slow API (a controlled connection between applications) calls, database access or cache behavior rather than only compressing assets. We release the changes behind a controlled rollout and compare real-user speed, errors and completed customer actions by device.

How we verify the work

  1. Separate main-content loading, interaction delay and server wait for the highest-value page/device combinations.
  2. Trace the longest dependency chain and fix the dominant cause before smaller optimizations.
  3. Remove duplicate tags and prioritize visible content; keep personalized responses out of shared public caches.
  4. Verify field LCP (main-content loading time)/INP (response time to user interaction), API (a controlled connection between applications) tail latency and completion rate; use an experiment for a causal sales claim.

Tools considered for this work

Delivery: development + diagnostic tools + hosting configuration. Browser: Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights; WebPageTest for repeatable waterfalls. Field data: web-vitals JavaScript library or the existing RUM (measurements from real visits)/APM platform. Backend: OpenTelemetry with Grafana or Datadog; existing framework and CDN (a network that delivers content closer to visitors). Validation: Playwright journeys; k6 when backend capacity is involved.

02Media-delivery bandwidth engineering

What you may be seeing

  • Our image-heavy pages load slowly.
  • Video and image delivery is becoming expensive.
  • Phones download desktop-sized pictures.
  • Media gets fetched again even when it has not changed.
  • Compression made our product images look poor.
What we build or change

We serve images and video at a suitable size and quality for each screen, reducing avoidable downloads while keeping important detail clear.

Implementation & verification

We compare media payloads, cache behavior and visible-page loading to identify unnecessary bytes and late critical assets. We implement responsive image sizes, supported modern formats and useful quality settings, while loading below-the-fold media only when needed. We configure image transformation and CDN (a network that delivers content closer to visitors) caching, and use adaptive video delivery where the current video workload warrants it. We validate visual detail, critical-content speed and bandwidth consumption on representative phones and connections.

How we verify the work

  1. Prioritize product/hero images and the largest repeatedly delivered files.
  2. Serve viewport-appropriate variants; avoid lazy loading the image needed for main-content paint.
  3. Use versioned asset URLs and bounded transformation presets to control cache and processing costs.
  4. Check product-detail visibility, field LCP (main-content loading time), delivered bytes and delivery cost per page view.

Tools considered for this work

Delivery: frontend development + media/CDN (a network that delivers content closer to visitors) configuration. Images: Cloudflare Images or Cloudinary; Sharp for a custom transformation pipeline. Video options: existing streaming provider or an HLS-capable delivery stack. Evidence: DevTools/WebPageTest and CDN (a network that delivers content closer to visitors) cache/bandwidth analytics. Implementation: srcset/sizes, format negotiation and cache versioning.

AI & automation in the work

Catch the next slowdown.

Automated journey checks detect a slower release. AI can help organise traces and error patterns; a developer confirms the cause and reviews the fix against real-user measurements.

Engineering terms, explained
Grounded AI / RAG
An assistant retrieves relevant approved evidence before generating an answer. Access controls and evaluations still need to be engineered and tested.
Idempotency
Retrying the same operation does not create an extra order, payment or record.
Controlled experiment
A concurrent comparison of assigned variants, with a defined outcome, observation window and decision rule.
Core Web Vitals
Measures of main-content loading, responsiveness to interaction and visual stability.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Is this more than a website speed audit?

Yes. We work across the frontend, backend, database, cloud and AI workload. The diagnosis determines which layers need development; the engagement can include implementation and ongoing monitoring.

Can you improve our Azure environment?

We can assess Azure application performance, workload costs, Functions, database usage and monitoring. We agree the relevant services, access and implementation boundaries before work starts.

Will you guarantee a savings percentage?

No. We establish your baseline first and present evidence-backed opportunities. Any saving is checked against reliability, customer experience and output quality.
